PSYC 8322 Psychology of Stress and Health

This course examines the biological, behavioral, social, and cognitive aspects of stress. Through assigned readings and hands-on activities, students will learn about the various ways in which stress is conceptualized and measured, the acute and chronic effects of stress on the body, and strategies for stress management. The course will also examine specific types of stress, such as relationship stress, work stress, and PTSD. A portion of the course is designed to introduce stress management techniques and evaluate their relative effectiveness. Prerequisite: Graduate standing in Psychological Science.
