PSYC 8330 Emotions and Cognitions: A Developmental Perspective
This course is designed to review the latest scientific knowledge within domains in human development to understand the integration and influence among domains. The emphasis is on the integration of these domains across the lifespan. In addition, contextual factors will be identified through examining the need for diversity in early experiences, life context in shaping developmental processes, and outcomes throughout the lifespan. This course emphasizes understanding the latest research on the integration of emotional and cognitive development, and the latest findings from neuroscience, brain development, and genetics/epigenetics that explain how these processes occur. The human development perspective is used to interpret this research and to identify clinical, research, practice, and policy implications. Additional emphasis is placed on developmental issues in Hispanics.
