PSYC 8373 Neuropathology: A Primer for Aspiring Neuropsychologists

The goal of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge of most commonly diseases/disorders assessed by Pediatric and Adult Clinical Neuropsychologists. The course will present the most common neurological diseases that children, adolescents and adults suffer. It is expected that students become familiar with vocabulary and concepts of neuropathological conditions. Clinical case discussion will be used, to a better understanding, appreciation and problem solving of clinical cases. The course takes an interdisciplinary approach Integrating information from several subfields of psychology such as cognitive, abnormal, developmental, biological and health psychology. Scientific approaches to brain/behavior research will also be reviewed. In this fashion, it is expected that students understand the concepts and principles of neuropathology.
