ELEE 6317 Electromagnetic Metamaterials

Topics covered include: introduction to metamaterials (MTMs); electromagnetics (EM) and photonic Metamaterials; characterization and design of metamaterials; metamaterial properties: EM waves in periodic patterned and layered MTM structures, photonic crystals, negative and zero refraction; optical metamaterials; dispersion in complex media; chiral metamaterials; metamaterial-based RF microwave and high-frequency applications: antennas, sensors, polarizers, perfect lenses, invisible cloaks, EM shields, EM absorbers, etc.; high frequency fabrication/measurement techniques and data treatment of metamaterials.
