Overview

The UTRGV Graduate Certificate in Health Professions Education and Technology will prepare graduates to lead and educate allied health, nursing, and medical professionals; public health practitioners; community health educators; health science educators and administrators. Graduates of the program will also help fulfill the need for qualified teaching faculty in the medical and allied health professions at all levels of professional preparation.

This degree makes graduates uniquely qualified to:

  1. Design, implement and evaluate new and emerging curricula in the field of health science education.
  2. Integrate technology in advanced instructional practices for health professionals.
  3. Provide mentorship and leadership to current and future health science professionals on health science career preparation.
  4. Implement emerging technology for health science education and physical activity promotion.
  5. Lead initiatives to advance the field of health science education.

This program is only offered in an accelerated format and is 100% online.

Admission Requirements

  1. Meets all UTRGV Graduate College admission requirements.
  2. Has been awarded a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
  3. Has earned at least a 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale) on the graduate admission GPA calculation or earned a previous master's degree from an accredited university.Letter of intent outlining applicant’s career and academic goals and relevant work experience.

Additional requirements for domestic applicants who attended foreign universities and International applicants:

  1. TOEFL or IELTS Language Proficiency Test with minimum scores: 550 on paper-based, 213 on computer based, or 79 on Internet-based for the TOEFL; 6.5 for the IELTS.   2. Certified English translation of educational records.

Application process, timeline for admission

Applications will be accepted year-round and admissions will be on a rolling basis.  Students must submit a complete application for admission at least 60 days prior to the first module they plan on enrolling.

Progression requirements required for this program

Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA earning a grade no less than a “B” in any course.
