Program of Study - Certificado Avanzado en Educación Bilingüe
The purpose of this certificate is to support educators across the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, and the United States in their knowledge about bilingual education and their ability to communicate in Spanish within bilingual education contexts. There is a high, unmet demand for teachers, principals, counselors, and virtually all school personnel, who understand the needs of bilingual learners and who have the language abilities to work in English/Spanish bilingual education settings. This program taught primarily in Spanish will help school personnel prepare to work with these learners.
Because course readings, activities and exams are conducted in Spanish, students must have at least an intermediate level of Spanish, including reading and writing abilities.
