Nursing (RN to BSN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing
(RN to BSN Concentration)
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program is a pathway for registered nurses. The Program is designed to enable students to integrate knowledge from theory and research, high-level skills, and concepts of leadership into the practice of professional nursing care of individuals, families, groups, and communities. The BSN Program provides a foundation for graduate study.

Core Curriculum - 42 Hours
Students must fulfill the Core Curriculum requirements. The courses listed below satisfy both degree requirements and Core Curriculum requirements.

Admission, Progression, And Graduation Requirements, if applicable:
Admission Requirements:
- Meet UTRGV’s admission requirements.
- Have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale in all prerequisite courses.
- Provide proof of current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for health care providers.
- Provide documentation verifying absence of active (infectious) pulmonary disease.
- Provide documentation verifying current immunization or immunity status for specified diseases (hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus/diphtheria or tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis, varicella, flu/influenza, meningitis if <age 22, etc.).
- Submit evidence of current active nursing license in state of residence.
- Maintain at least $1 million in professional liability insurance.
Progression Requirements:
- Provide annual proof of current certification in CPR (health care provider).
- Provide annual documentation verifying absence of active (infectious) pulmonary disease.
- Maintain a minimum grade of ‘C’ in each required BSN course.
- Seek academic advisement each semester regarding program progression.
- Abide by and adhere to the BSN Student Guide.
Graduation Requirements:
- Complete all BSN prerequisites with a minimum grade of ‘C’ in each course.
- Complete all Accelerated RN to BSN core courses.
- Have transcript evaluated for all prerequisites by UTRGV Registrars.
