Business Analytics with a Specialization in Healthcare Analytics (MS) - Accelerated Online Program
The Master of Science in Business Analytics program will prepare students to solve problems in business and organizational contexts which require the application of information systems to carry out sophisticated business analytics techniques. Students will be knowledgeable and skilled in data selection, collection, preparation and storage, visualization, and analysis using data analytics techniques such as data mining, machine learning, text mining, social media analytics, big data, and enterprise analytics. Students will obtain hands-on experience with cutting-edge analytics tools and software such as R, Python and Tableau. Our graduates can find diverse careers in the business analytics profession such as data analysts, business analytics consultants, business intelligence analysts, business analytics manager, big data analytics specialists, data scientists and predictive modelers.
Admissions
To be admitted to the graduate program, prospective candidates must first meet all requirements for graduate admission to UT Rio Grande Valley, as well as the other requirements listed below:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a recognized international equivalent in a similar or related field.
- Undergraduate GPA of at least a 3.0 in the last 60 semester credit hours.
- Applicants with a GPA below 3.0 will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Official transcripts from each institution attended (must be submitted directly to UTRGV).
- One letter of recommendation
- GMAT or GRE. GMAT and GRE test scores are valid for 5 years. A waiver of the GMAT requirement will be granted to applicants who show proof of one of the following:
- Has a graduate degree (master’s or doctoral) from a similarly accredited institution.
- Has 3.25 or higher undergraduate GPA in last 60 hours semester credit hours.
- Holds a professional certification of high standards (e.g., CPA, CFA)

Program Requirements
The Master of Science in Business Analytics with a Specialization in Healthcare Analytics requires a total of 33 credit hours (11 courses).
Students will earn 24 credits through the 8 required courses, and 9 credits through the three prescribed electives.
