ARTS 6358 Design History and Criticism

In a broad sense the seminar examines the history and ethnography of material objects. This includes utilitarian and symbolic invested things. To close the gap between this vast agenda and ourr closest interest, the history of graphic design, we focus our concern on printed materials, looking even closer to the combination of text and image in the mass printed page from antiquity to the digital era.
