BIOL 6365 Non-Thesis Independent Study

This class involves non-thesis independent graduate research that can involve laboratory and/or fieldwork or other acceptable research in any of the subfields of biology. The student in consultation with the instructor must develop a research design with milestones and achievement dates, which must be approved before research begins. Overall, the research will involve research design, literature review, collection of data, analysis of data, and an interpretation of results and findings. Regular communication with the instructor must be kept throughout this course. The product of the student work is an approved presentation of results taking one of the following formats: technical report, scientific article, or oral/poster presentation that is delivered at an on or off-campus event, seminar, meeting, or conference. The student's work will be retained in the student's Biology Graduate Program records. If taken in the summer, the student should enroll in no other course that summer term.
