CRIJ 6314 Courts and Correctional Issues

Courts play a major role in determining the rights of persons who are incarcerated. This course will explore how court decisions affect the rights of prisoners including prisoners' constitutional rights in the institutional context, standards of review for actionas by prison authorities, the historical evolution of prisoners' rights, use of force, isolated confinement, access to legal services, prison conditions, etc.
