ANTH 6303 Forensic Anthropology
This course introduces students to the basic principles of forensic anthropology through a critical approach of the methods and techniques employed in this multidisciplinary field. Students will learn to identify, collect, and interpret forensic evidence from an anthropological perspective. The course includes an overview of osteology, methods of establishing a biological profile of unidentified remains, and progresses to the various methods of personal identification, estimation of the postmortem interval, and circumstances of death. Finally, the course addresses social justice topics by analyzing the application of forensic anthropology to humanitarian and human rights abuse.
