ENTS 9504 Dermatology UTRGV Cameron

The clinical elective in dermatology is designed for senior medical students interested in the diagnosis and management of skin diseases. Students will have exposure to general clinical adult and pediatric dermatology focusing on the evaluation and management of benign and malignant disorders of the skin, and procedural techniques used in dermatology. After completing the rotation, students will be able to recognize the patterns of common dermatoses such as acne, papulosquamous disorders, drug eruptions, infectious disorders, and cutaneous neoplasms. Students will be able to develop a differential diagnosis for skin conditions based on clinical features and patient presentations. The student will also be able to develop treatment strategies that are patient centric and when a referral to a specialist is
indicated.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Surgery MS3 clerkship.
