MEDI 8132 Introduction to Medical Research and Discovery

Foundations of Research in year 1 will uncover the basic introduction to medical research. It will uncover a broad spectrum of topics including introduction to research methodologies, research ethics, artificial intelligence ethics in research, clinical study and clinical trials design and bio-statistical analyses to foster critical thinking skills. This foundation to research course will aim to equip and develop the research skills the students need to conduct various types of research projects in basic science, clinical and translational research. Learning to evaluate the scientific literature and write proposals will enhance the students to effectively engage in research activities. The curriculum also includes lessons on clinical research study designs, learn to write research proposals, create study protocols for students to undertake projects related to retrospective, prospective and meta-analyses with data collection, management. This basic introductory approach is intended to develop a robust understanding of the research processes relevant to their medical career goals.
