PMMD 8000 Introduction to Medicine

This course is aimed to provide foundational basic science knowledge in disciplines in biochemistry, physiology, cell biology, anatomy, and histology. Further, this course introduces interprofessional education (IPE) where students are exposed to working collaboratively with other learners in interprofessional teams. An introduction to the SOPM curriculum with emphasis on core values and themes: grounding in basic sciences, language skills and cultural awareness, and inter-professional education. This course presents the podiatric history, philosophy, principles, problem solving and patient management, incorporating direct and indirect, traditional, and contemporary podiatric medicine, surgery, and biomechanics, research, and critical appraisal.
