Scholarships

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley offers various of scholarships through the University Scholarship Committee and departmental committees. These scholarships are based on various prerequisites and are intended to recognize students for their outstanding academic accomplishments and future potential. These awards are made possible through the generosity of local and national business firms, organizations, individuals, and university endowed funds.

Most scholarships are not automatically renewed. Students must apply each year for continued consideration. While most awards are restricted to U.S. citizens and permanent residents, some opportunities are available to international students, who are strongly encouraged to apply.

To be considered for endowed and/or departmental scholarships at UTRGV, students must complete the online scholarship application. Because the scholarship process is highly competitive, students are encouraged to complete their application by the deadline to be considered (High School Seniors: December 1st/Undergraduate and Graduate students: February 1st).

Important: It is a federal financial aid policy not to award students in excess of their need or overall cost of attendance (COA). Students who have received aid (including institutional, state, federal and private sources) in excess of their need or COA will have any UTRGV institutional scholarship(s) reduced or cancelled. In addition, the Scholarship and Enrollment Communications Office may substitute a scholarship if a more favorable funding source is identified.

SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITIVE WAIVER
