ASLI 4346 Visual Gestural Communication & Non Manual Markers

This course provides a means of bypassing the vocabulary and strict grammar rules of a language and aiming directly at other very important non-manual components of effective communication. These include 1) cohesion-the sequencing of relevant pieces of communication, 2) monologic discourse - the rules of building sequences to a point of climax and resolution in narratives; 3) dialogic discourse - the rules of turn-taking and interrupting in dialogic discourse; 4) stylistics - the confidence, character, and personality expressed while communicating non manually.
