POLS 2470 Introduction to Political Science Research

Analysis of the study in politics, models of inquiry, research methods and introduction to the use of statistical software in political science research. In the statistical lab portion of the course, students will learn descriptive and inferential statistical methods as applied to the study of political issues. Topics covered include data gathering, probability theory, hypothesis testing, and linear regression models, with an emphasis on both parametric and non-parametric statistical methods. At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to conduct a statistical analysis of a research question in Political Science.
