POLS 3343 Foundations of Social Theory

The course will examine how foundational social theorists have understood the structure and development of modern society.  The course is an in-depth examination of foundational thinkers that have defined our understanding of modern society due to their influence on the development of the social sciences. Readings may include Adam Smith, Karl Marx, Max Weber, Karl Polanyi, Emile Durkheim,  WEB Du Bois, Simone De Beauvoir, and others.
