SURG 9110 Surgery Clerkship
The Surgery Clerkship is a combination of general surgery and sub-specialty surgical services. Students will be exposed to a variety of surgical patients, including both routine surgical cases and more urgent or emergent cases with the trauma surgery team. Students will actively participate in the evaluations, diagnosis, and development of therapeutic management plans for patients suffering from both acute and chronic surgical illnesses. The clerkship is interwoven with clinical rounds, conferences, self-directed learning, and scheduled didactics. The goal of the surgery clerkship is for students to apply their knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors to the care of surgical patients. The surgery clerkship focuses on core surgical conditions that every practicing physician must demonstrate competency in managing.
