Forensic Anthropology, Minor
Program Overview
The Forensic Anthropology minor focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary to translate anthropological techniques to medicolegal and forensic contexts. This minor complements degree programs in Criminal Justice and the School of Integrative Biological and Chemical Sciences and will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of forensic sciences, a comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, biological and cultural variation, and methods of forensic recovery and analysis. It includes opportunities for both field-based learning activities and applied research. A background in forensic anthropology is useful for careers in law enforcement, governmental agencies, medical examiners offices, death investigation agencies, human rights organizations, and other related fields.
Minor Requirements - 18 hours
Required - 9 hours
Students declared in any BA Anthropology major or Anthropology minor must take an additional ANTH course from the Electives list below to fulfill ANTH 1324 Human Evolution.
Electives - Choose 9 hours
ANTH 3345 Anthropology Community Internship may be taken only when the focus is Forensics. ANTH 4390 Directed Studies may be taken only when the focus is Forensics.
