NURS 6350 Pharmacotherapeutics Application in Psychiatric Mental Health Practice

This course presents advanced concepts of neuroscience, epigenetics, and psychopharmacology that contribute to mental health and psychiatric disorders across the lifespan. Approaches to clinical management in the treatment of psychiatric disorders and mental illness, and their response, are discussed in the management for the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Clinical management of psychotropic medication in their treatment, with emphasis placed on biologic actions, neurobiology, safe prescribing, and treatment response of psychiatric medication management. Pertinent laboratory diagnostics and neuroimaging related to psychiatric health and illness are also analyzed.
