PEDI 9507 Pediatric Pulmonology

The goal of the Pediatric Pulmonary selective is to develop the knowledge and skills needed to diagnose and manage common pediatric pulmonary disorders. The emphasis will be on how to obtain pertinent history, the recognition of physical signs of pulmonary diseases, CXR, and blood gas evaluation, and the critical assessment of the data gathered. Students will participate in outpatient pulmonary clinics. The practice of evidence-based medicine will be emphasized. Regularly scheduled didactic sessions will expand on topics encountered in patient care. Students are expected to demonstrate professional responsibility in working as a team member with other members of the Pulmonary team, patients, and families.
