SURG 9521 Critical Care Surgery-DHR
This course provides MS4 students with a broad exposure to surgical critical care. Students will be assigned to the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at DHR. There is no required outpatient clinic component. Academic ICU rounds occur daily. Participation in weekly general surgery educational conferences as well as separate SICU educational conference is mandatory. Students will participate in daily teaching rounds as well as intensive care procedures. They will also be expected to assist in overnight in-house trauma surgery call (average once weekly).
Prerequisites: Successful completion of MS3 Surgical Clerkship, SURG 9110.
