Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering
The BS in Manufacturing Engineering undergraduate program provides quality engineering education to prepare students for the practice of manufacturing and industrial engineering. The program has a strong laboratory component in the curriculum. There are excellent opportunities for industrial internships and research experiences. There is a strong emphasis on teamwork and communication. Manufacturing engineers are usually leaders in the product and process innovation, and often move on to management positions. A manufacturing engineering degree can lead to employment a variety of industries including manufacturing, logistics, automotive, aerospace and defense.
General Overview: The Department of Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering offers an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering (BSMANE), a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering (MSMANE), and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management (MSEM) that is offered fully online.
Mission: The Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering Department provides high quality engineering education, coupled with contemporary research programs, to prepare undergraduate and graduate students for the practice of manufacturing and industrial engineering for the growing economic and technological needs of the society. The department provides opportunities for all students to participate in industrial internships and research to enhance their understanding of global, societal, and technical challenges associated with manufacturing, and the importance of lifelong learning. The department emphasizes written and verbal communication and offers a hands-on laboratory component throughout the curricula.
