PHIL 4327 Philosophy of Propaganda
This is a study of propaganda with focus on political, moral-ethical, and epistemological issues. The students will discuss questions, such as, Do we really line an age of overabundant information that is "post-truth"? What is propaganda? - Is it just a negative or positive or, even, neutral tool to spread messages? - Does there exist an anti-dote to ideological messages? If propaganda has speed into almost anything public, is there a way to know what is true? What about the morally of applying propaganda as a "tool"? How is propaganda tied to power structures and dynamics as well as to background valuations that people do and have? Answers to these questions will draw on the rules of critical thinking, on results of social-psychological research, and on ideology analyses.
