Sexual Misconduct Educational and Prevention Programs
UTRGV’s commitment to raising awareness of the dangers of sexual misconduct includes offering ongoing education through annual training and lectures by faculty, staff, mental health professionals, or trained UTRGV personnel. UTRGV periodically educates and trains employees and supervisors regarding the Sexual Harassment and Sexual Misconduct policy and conduct that could constitute a violation of the policy. Preventive education and training programs are provided to UTRGV administrators, faculty, staff, and students and includes information about risk reduction, including bystander intervention. UTRGV departments that provide training throughout the year on sexual misconduct prevention include:
- The Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity provides diversity, inclusion, nondiscrimination, sexual misconduct and accessibility training to faculty, staff and students.
- Student Rights and Responsibilities provides training on active bystander intervention, healthy relationships, what to do if you are a victim of sexual assault and assault awareness programs.
- The Office for Victim Advocacy & Violence Prevention provides specialized violence prevention and sexual assault awareness trainings and hosts an annual conference, CAVE (Coalition Against Violence and Exploitation).
- University Police Department offers violence prevention programs and offers specialized sexual misconduct discussions for campus groups.
