EPSY 6361 ABA 1: BACB Compliance and Disciplinary Systems; Professionalism

This course covers the content of the BACB Professional and Ethical Compliance Code for Behavior Analysts along with sources of ethical guidance, processes for reporting ethical violations, disciplinary reviews, possible actions, and appeals. The Compliance Code includes 10 sections relevant to professional and ethical behavior of behavior analysts, along with a glossary of terms. All BCBA applicants and certificants are required to adhere to the Code. The Code outlines the behavior analyst's responsible conduct, responsibility to clients, colleagues, the profession of behavior analysts, and the BACB. It also provides guidelines for assessing behavior, developing behavior change programs, making public statements, and conducting research. Further, the Code outlines the behavior analyst's role as a supervisor. The many guidelines presented in this document directly guide the professional and ethical decisions made by behavior analysts in the field. Assignments require students to know, understand, apply, make judgements and defend judgements using the content of the Code.
