Nutritional Sciences, Minor

Admission requirements for this program beyond university admission requirements. 

  • Must be enrolled in a major at UTRGV and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00. 
  • Students are recommended to have general biology background to understand about macronutrients, micronutrients and how the body produces energy with the food consumed. 
  • Students must fill out a secondary application to enter the minor in Nutrition program. The application form will be uploaded to the Nutrition tab under the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences website https://www.utrgv.edu/hbs/index.htm.

Progression requirements for this program.

  • Students must maintain a grade of "C" or above in all the minor requirement courses to remain in the program.

Specific graduation requirements for this program beyond university bachelor’s degree requirements. 

  • Students must earn a minimum grade of ‘C’ in each NUTR course in the minor; however, a GPA of 3.0 must be achieved across all NUTR courses in the minor.
