MATH 6340 Computing for Mathematical and Data Sciences

This course is an introduction to using Python and C++ to solve problems in the mathematical and statistical sciences. Basic programming topics are introduced, including variables, control flow, data structures, functions, and how to use classes. Emphasis is upon using third-party libraries, e.g., 'Eigen' (C++) or 'scikit-learn' (Python), for numerical linear algebra; numerically solving differential equations; and analyzing and visualizing data.
