INTM 9317 Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS)

During this elective, medical students have intensive training in the use of Point-Of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). The integrated instructional approach combines small group workshops with extended clinical scanning sessions in emergency medicine, critical care, and obstetrics/gynecology settings.  Simulation training augments the clinical experiences. Students receive detailed feedback on their scanning skills by direct observation and through critique of their scanning results. Apply the core competencies from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME): Patient Care (PC), Medical Knowledge (MK), Interpersonal/Communications Skills (IC), Professionalism (PR), Practice-Based Learning (PBL), System-Based Practice (SBP), for the use of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) during internal medicine training and medical school clinical years.
