MANE 6387 Introduction to Shipbuilding
This course provides an introduction to the shipbuilding industry, including the ship overhaul process. The course begins with the status of the Maritime Industry. It includes the ship design process and ship types. Materials and manufacturing methods are reviewed including welding and non-destructive testing (NDT). Ship structures are covered as well as outfitting, accuracy control, management methods, scheduling, the IMO and classification societies.
