Readmission to the University

RETURNING STUDENTS

Undergraduate students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree who are coming back after a leave of two semesters or more may seek admission as a returning student.

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

  1. Returning application. The application is available at www.applytexas.org
  2. Official College Transcripts. Although not required for admission, returning students that attended another college/university after their last term at UTRGV are required to submit official college transcripts to have their coursework evaluated within the first term of re-enrollment. Students that submitted unofficial or in-progress transcripts during their last application must also submit complete official transcripts within the first term of re-enrollment. Transcripts must be sent directly from the institution(s) attended electronically or by mail or may be hand delivered if the document is in a sealed envelope from the institution and not marked as Issued to Student. Transcripts must not be older than 6 months. Students who are currently enrolled at another institution should request a transcript to be sent with the coursework completed to date, followed by a final official transcript to be sent upon completion of the current semester.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AFTER ADMISSION

  1. Meningitis Vaccination. Medical record documenting Meningitis Vaccination administered within 5 years prior to the start of the application term or exemption will not be used for admission purposes but is a requirement for enrollment for students under 22 years of age. Please check with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for full details.

All documents submitted become the property of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Documents submitted will not be returned to the student.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Assured admission is in place for returning students that are not subject to disciplinary action

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS

Returning students are highly encouraged to meet with an academic advisor due to potential changes to degree requirements. Returning students who are not TSI exempt or who have not passed all sections of a TSI approved exam, must seek advising at the Academic Advising Center (AAC)
