MUSI 4313 Elementary Music Methods

This course is designed to help you develop ways of thinking about teaching and learning that will serve throughout your career as a music educator. You will develop knowledge, skills, and techniques for planning, delivering, and evaluating music instruction for elementary school children. During the semester you will become familiar with the philosophical, psychological, and pedagogical foundations of general music instruction. You will learn about application of child development to music learning. You will observe and practice teaching techniques appropriate for elementary school children. You will write lesson plans and instructional units and will also have opportunities to teach individually and small groups.
