MEDI 8524 Introduction to Medical Research & Discovery Y2

In Year 2, Introduction to Medical Research Discovery (IMRD) course builds upon the foundational skills acquired during the first year. This course focuses on the practical application of research concepts through student-led scholarly projects. Working in small groups under faculty mentorship, students will design and develop research posters, write structured abstracts, and deliver formal poster presentations. The course promotes a deep understanding of research processes relevant to students' medical career goal. Learning activities include small group-based evidenced based medicine, collaborative team-based learning, and self-directed exploration. Assessments include discrete rubric-based evaluations, and self-assessments designed to measure both knowledge and skill development. These experiences are intended to enhance scientific communications skills, promote collaborative inquiry, and prepare students for future academic scholarship and independent research within the context of their medical education.
