ENGT 3351 Principles of Machine Design

This course will integrate the knowledge of Applied Mechanics and Engineering Materials into the design process of machine elements. Students will learn the fundamentals of the design process, and the design of some common machine elements will be the focus. The students will apply the concepts in the design of a simple machine. Topics include an Introduction to machine design, a review of stress, strain, and deflection, static and fatigue failure theories, the design of gears, shafts and keys, the design of bearings, the design of springs, and the design of screws and fasteners.
