Recommended Course Sequence

A recommended course sequence is a list of courses by semester, term, or enrollment period that satisfy the requirement for a student to complete an undergraduate certificate or degree program without exceeding the semester credit hours required for the degree program. Per Texas Education Code, Section 51.96852, Texas public institutions are required to report this information to the THECB and, per Title 19 of Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 4, Subchapter U, the recommended course sequences must be published in the catalog and on the university's website.

In compliance with the aforementioned regulations, UTRGV publishes undergraduate roadmaps on the Academic Advising Center website and updates each annually. The UTRGV Roadmaps are a suggested sequence of courses designed to assist students in completing their undergraduate degree requirements. This is a term-by-term sample roadmap of courses required to complete the degree. Students must satisfy all requirements in their catalog including, but not limited to course prerequisites, grade point average and course grade benchmarks, progression requirements, and graduation requirements.

Students should meet with their academic advisor every semester to discuss their individualized path toward completion. Degree progress within this roadmap depends upon such factors as course availability, individual student academic preparation and readiness, student time management, work and personal responsibilities, and financial considerations. Students may choose to take courses during summer terms to reduce course loads during long semesters.
