MUSI 3302 Music History and Literature III

A historical survey of Western musical tradition from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. The overall objective is for the student to gain an understanding of basic developments in Western music from the Romantic and Modern Eras. The course will include a study of styles and genres, and will place emphasis on listening, formal structure and musical analysis. The course is also designed to increase the students critical thinking skills and ability to write effectively about the aesthetics of Western Music.
