DIET 6531 Supervised Experiential Learning III
This supervised practicum addresses nutrition care in clinical settings and medically/surgically complex clients/patients including those in critical care settings. Students will practice establishing, ordering, managing and evaluating the need for nutrition support when prescribing and administering oral, enteral and parenteral feedings. This will include therapeutic diet and feeding orders, monitoring patient responses to nutrition therapy and related medications including laboratory and other diagnostic tests and taking required actions to make modifications or adjustments. The last 3-weeks of the rotation, students will assume professional responsibilities with more autonomy and apply principles of time management and order writing to monitor and enhance personal productivity and prioritize activities to effectively manage time and workload.
Prerequisite
Accepted status in the MS in Dietetics program.
