BMEE 6314 Introduction to Biomaterials

This course provides an introduction, at the graduate level, to biomaterials by emphasizing the relationships between the structure, processing, properties, and performance of biomaterials and their applications in nano/biotechnology. This course begins with the basic concepts and characteristics of metals, ceramics, polymers, and natural biomaterials and the unique advantages and limitations of their use in biomedical applications. The remainder of the course will cover the application of biomaterials in biomedical applications, wound dressing, tissue engineering, drug delivery, biosensing, dental and medical implants, and medical devices.
