PAFF 6380 Global Security
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the policy and politics of global security and explores the evolution of security concepts worldwide while challenging students to critically see and understand the topic of security from different perspectives and to relate the theoretical knowledge to the current crisis of our interconnected world. Upon completion of the course, students will develop the ability to debate contemporary security issues, and acquire an understanding of security threats, and how they are defined and addressed while examining the historical implications of globalization to security. Through this course, students will discover a transboundary perspective on current security “wicked” issues such as radicalization and terrorism, changing nature of conflict, hybrid war, climate change, Food-Energy-Water security, migration, and cyber threats.
