ASLI 3323 Foundations of Deaf Culture

This course provides a historical and contemporary perspective of American Deaf culture using a sociocultural model. Historical processes that formed the Deaf community in the United States will be examined. Topics addressed include the history of the Deaf, the development of a cultural identity, cultural values, communication norms, diversity, and language.
