MUSI 3301 Music History and Literature II

A historical survey of Western musical traditions from the mid-18th to late 19th centuries. The course will include a study of styles and genres, and will place emphasis on listening, formal structure, and musical analysis. The course is also designed to increase the students’ critical thinking skills and ability to write effectively about the aesthetics of Western Music.
