PAFF 6343 Energy Security and Geopolitics

Energy resources are vital to the exercise of power and the stability of global order. This course examines how energy production, consumption, and transition shape the strategies of states and non-state actors. Students will explore the geopolitical consequences of oil and gas dependence, the security dimensions of renewables and critical minerals, and the emerging global competition over energy technologies.

Through theory, case studies, and policy exercises, students will develop the analytical and policy skills to evaluate and design strategies that enhance national and global energy security.
