PAFF 6345 Warfare and Emerging Threats
This course examines how the nature of conflict and security is evolving in the context of a rapidly changing global security environment, with rising great power competition, technological innovation, and the rise of unconventional non-state and human security challenges. Moving beyond traditional paradigms of war and peace, the course explores how emerging threats—whether state-driven or transnational—are reshaping national and homeland security and policy responses. Course readings and assignments are focused on integrating academic theory with policy analysis and application. Through critical thinking and applied policy analysis, both during class debates and through assessment focused on policy application, students will engage with the complexities of global security and develop tools for anticipating and addressing emerging threats.
