PAFF 6348 Transnational Organized Crime and Global Network
This graduate-level course offers an advanced study of Transnational Organized Crime (TOC), examining its structure, global reach, and profound impact on security, governance, and development. The course conceptualizes TOC not merely as a law enforcement challenge but as a sophisticated, dynamic global network operating across jurisdictional boundaries. Students will explore the mechanisms and economic flows of major illicit markets, including drug trafficking, human trafficking, cybercrime, and illicit trade in goods. Emphasis is placed on using network analysis and institutional theory to understand how TOC groups adapt, corrupt legitimate systems, and exploit globalization.
