EDUC 4331 Residency I for Secondary, Middle Grade, and All-Level Programs
This is the first of two courses designed for students seeking certification in secondary, middle grades, or all level programs under the residency pathway. Residents will be placed in a state-accredited public school all day under the guidance of an experienced classroom teacher (mentor) and a university supervisor for two semesters. The focus will be on the integration of pedagogical-content knowledge, development of critical reflection, professional boundaries, and well-informed decision-making for the improvement of professional practice with an emphasis on the implementation of effective instruction, assessment, technology integration, and classroom management.
This
course meets state requirements under 19 TAC §228.61(b) and §228.67.
Participation is mandatory. Clinical teaching dates must follow your assigned
school district’s calendar, which may not align with the UTRGV academic
calendar. Participation in all required components of this course is mandatory.
Prerequisite
Admission to the College of Education Clinical Teaching Residency Program.
