SOCW 4354 Generalist Field Education I
This course is the first course in a two-semester practicum sequence. Students are required to complete 200 clock hours in an approved practicum setting, gaining hands-on experience in generalist social work practice. Using the Generalist Intervention Model (GIM), student interns will work with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Supervision and consultation will be utilized to strengthen professional skills and ethical decision-making. The course emphasizes in applying techniques and interventions learned in prior coursework, including case management, referrals, assessments, and advocacy, while demonstrating competency in real-world practice settings.
Prerequisite
Admission into the School of Social Work and approval by the Office of Field Education.
Corequisite
Students must be concurrently enrolled in
SOCW 4301.
