PAFF 6381 Homeland Security in the U.S.

This course discusses current issues of the social, behavioral, cultural, political, geographical, and administrative perspectives of homeland security, focusing on a comprehensive, up-to-date overview of threats, from an all-hazards perspective. Upon completion of the course, students will have acquired the theoretical, literature-based knowledge of the subject, but will also have developed a critical perspective on the public policies, management practices, and models of bureaucratic decision-making and their roles within the complexity and paradoxical character of issues like counterterrorism, crisis management, cybercrime, research and analysis, emergency disaster planning, and other topics essential to security and preparedness.
