SURG 9525 Virtual Radiology

In this Virtual Radiology elective students will develop basic understanding of general diagnostic imaging modalities by systematically analyzing and appraising radiological images through online modules over the four-week period. The student will acquire the fundamental skills to adequately assess radiographic in a system-based approach (Neuroimaging, Musculoskeletal imaging, Breast Imaging, Cardiovascular Imaging, etc.). The student will gain an understanding of the underlying basic science principles of different imaging modalities. The student will familiarize 
themselves with diagnostic imaging findings of common pathologies as they relate to each system. The student will be assigned daily readings from the assigned text, journal articles, or other online sources. The student will participate in weekly online discussions with the faculty member and classmates on various topics in radiology. 

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Years 1-3 of medical school curriculum.
